Domain Transfers Print

Domain transfer is the process of moving the management and administration of your domain name (i.e. yourdomain.com) to Farbyte.

The process is normally straight forward and takes between 5-10 working days to complete. Much of this time is spent waiting for the current registrar to perform their release duties.

In some cases you may need to provide Farbyte with a 'transfer key' (also known as an 'AuthInfo Code', 'Auth-info code', 'EEP code', etc.), more information can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_secret. This code must be obtained from your current registrar.

Also, some registrars (i.e. GoDaddy) require that you 'Unlock' the domain in their control panel before the transfer can be completed.

This process should not be confused with a 'website migration', where you move your website files, email, etc. to another providers hosting servers and change the nameserver to point to the new host.
