IMAP
Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP4) allows you to access your email remotely using client software like Outlook, Thunderbird, Android / iPhone mail, etc. and supports both online and offline modes.
In general, client software using IMAP leaves the email messages on the Farbyte cloud, so you can access it from anywhere using different devices. Each device may cache local copies for working in offline mode.
This allows you to access your email from anywhere that has an internet connection & ensures your email is secure in the Farbyte cloud.
POP3
Post Office Protocol (POP) is a client access protocol like IMAP, but older and less preferred than IMAP.
POP3 is also available in popular email clients like Thunderbird, Outlook, iPhone / Android mail, etc.
Email software that uses this protocol normally connects to the email server, downloads the email messages and then deletes them from the server.
Thus, unless all your devices are specifically configured to leave the email messages on the server, this protocol is not recommended if you require access to your emails from multiple devices or locations.

You can choose email hosting billing periods of 1, 3, 6, 12, 24 or 36 months.
Yes. Our email servers will allow you to connect with all Android or Apple devices via IMAP / POP3 & SMTP.
Yes. You can connect with any popular email client software that supports IMAP / POP3 & SMTP (e.g. Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.).
Each plan has an hourly email limit specified in the price table above.
Limits are only applied to outgoing (sent) emails from the account, not incoming.
The bigger plans have larger limits to fit their expected use cases.
For email limits greater than our Business plan, please contact us with your requirements for a custom quote.
If your hourly email limit is reached, any further emails are queued for later delivery, when your hourly average comes down.
Email limits are set to prevent accounts & our IP ranges being flagged as spammers by 3rd parties if a client device is compromised by spam malware.
This is an industry standard precaution.
We accept IMAP, POP3 & SMTP connections using industry standard SSL/TLS (Secure Sockets Layer / Transport Layer Security) & STARTTLS (Opportunistic TLS).
Yes, we automatically backup all emails on our cloud storage at least once a week & retain each backup for 4 weeks.
Offsite backups are also held for a further 2 months for disaster recovery protection.
In addition, you can manually run backups of your entire account at anytime.
You can restore individual or multiple emails on a per file basis via our control panel interface using the default weekly backups.
