SSL certificates are most commonly used to secure connections to websites & email for the transmission of sensitive information such as user logins, credit card details, etc. and to guarantee the authenticity of the website or server in question.

In order to provide your users with a secure, encrypted HTTPS connection, that also ensures server authenticity, you will need a signed SSL certificate.

In the past these certificates were very expensive, costing hundreds or even thousands of pounds.

However, we have negotiated services that enable you to purchase secure, signed SSL certificates from industry leading providers Geotrust and Sectigo (Comodo) for as little as £12.99 per year!

That's not a typo, it really is less than £15 per year!

A wildcard certificate allows you secure multiple first level subdomains using only one certificate.

This is achieved by using issuing the certificate to the *.youname.com domain.

For example, if we purchased a wildcard certificate for *.farbyte.uk, we can then use that certificate for secure connections to any first level subdomain we create, such as example1.farbyte.uk, example2.farbyte.uk, etc.

However, we cannot use the certificate to secure domains lower than the 1st level, such as level2.example1.farbyte.uk. For the vast majority of cases, this is not an issue.

A wildcard SSL/TLS certificate offers great value for money when you have 5 or more first level subdomains that you need to secure.

Our standard wildcard certificates can be used for HTTPS and IMAP/SMTP server connections. This includes email, webpages, VPNs, etc. However, please check with your server software vendor to verify it supports wildcard certificates before purchasing.
